What Neezy Backup Does
Neezy Backup keeps your photos and videos safe by backing them up to storage you own - a USB drive plugged into your phone or a computer on your local network. Plug in a USB drive via OTG and tap one button. Neezy Backup scans your phone folders, skips files already backed up and copies only what is new. Unplug and your memories are safe on hardware you control. Prefer backing up over WiFi? Install the free companion app on your Windows or Linux computer. Neezy Backup discovers it on your local network automatically - no internet needed, no cloud in between. Your files travel directly from phone to computer over an encrypted local connection. Set up multiple backup pairs to cover Camera, WhatsApp, Downloads or any folder you choose. Neezy Backup tracks every session with full history - file counts, sizes and timestamps - so you always know what was backed up and when. The free tier covers up to 3 backup pairs and 20 photos per day. Upgrade to Kavach for unlimited pairs, unlimited daily backups, auto-backup when a USB drive is connected and an ad-free experience.
All data transfer happens locally between your device and the destination (USB drive or computer on your local network). No data is uploaded to any cloud server or transmitted over the internet during the backup process.
Data We Access
Neezy Backup accesses the following data on your device to perform its function:
- Photos and videos in folders you select (read-only access)
- File metadata such as filenames, file sizes and modification dates
- USB drive information (volume label, storage capacity and available space) to identify your USB drive across sessions
This data is used only to perform the backup. It is transferred directly to your USB drive or local computer and is never sent to our servers or any external service.
Data We Collect
Your photos and videos are never collected by Neezy Backup. They remain on your device, your USB drive and/or your computer at all times. When using network backup, files are transferred directly from your phone to your computer over your local WiFi network. No data passes through our servers or any cloud service.
For users of the paid tier, we collect the following information solely for license enforcement and account operation:
- Email address (for Firebase Authentication sign-in when purchasing Kavach)
- Firebase user ID (to identify the account across sessions)
- Device model and Android version (for Crashlytics crash reports)
- Install date and app usage counts (stored locally and in Cloud Firestore for license enforcement)
- Backup session metadata such as file count, size and timestamp (stored locally in the on-device database)
- Photos and videos selected for backup (transferred directly to USB drive or computer - never uploaded to Neezy servers)
This information is stored on secure servers and is used only to operate the paid tier. It is not used for marketing and is not shared with third parties.
Analytics and Crash Reporting
Neezy Backup uses Firebase Analytics (Google) for anonymous usage data such as button taps, screen views and purchase events. This data is anonymized and does not include file names, folder paths, photo contents or any personally identifiable information.
Anonymous crash reports are collected through Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to help us fix bugs. Crash reports include device type, operating system version, app version and technical details about the error. They do not include photos, file names or personal information.
Single Active Device Policy
The paid tier license is active on one device at a time. You may switch your active device at any time through the app. When you activate on a new device, the previously active device reverts to the free tier automatically. You will be shown a confirmation dialog before your previous device is deactivated.
There is no limit on how often you may switch devices, and there is no charge for switching. The free tier is not affected by this policy and requires no account or license.
Data Storage
All backup tracking data (which files have been backed up, backup session history) is stored locally on your device only. It is not transmitted to any server.
Paid tier license information is stored on secure servers with strict access rules. Access is limited to authenticated users and our server-side license enforcement logic.
Network Backup (WiFi Transfer)
The network backup feature transfers files directly between your phone and your computer over your local WiFi network. During this process:
- All transfers are encrypted using TLS with self-signed certificates generated on your devices
- No data is sent to our servers, cloud services or any third party
- Device pairing information (device name, a certificate fingerprint and a local IP address) is stored locally on both devices
- The companion desktop app does not require an account or login
- File names and folder paths are transmitted between paired devices during transfer but are not collected or stored by us beyond the local device
The desktop app accesses only the folders you explicitly select as backup destinations. It does not scan, index or access any other files on your computer.
Third-Party Services
Firebase Authentication (user sign-in for Kavach purchases), Cloud Firestore (license enforcement and device records), Firebase Remote Config (feature flags and A/B test parameters), Firebase Crashlytics (crash and error reporting), Firebase Analytics (anonymous usage analytics), Google AdMob (ads in the free tier) and Google Play Billing (in-app purchases). All are Google services. No other third-party services or tracking SDKs are used.
These services are governed by their providers' privacy policies.
Children's Privacy
Neezy Backup is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at support@neezy.in and we will delete it promptly.
Data Deletion
To delete local backup tracking data, clear the app data in your Android device settings or uninstall Neezy Backup.
To delete your paid tier account data from our servers, contact us at support@neezy.in. We will process your request within 30 days.
Data Retention
Local backup tracking data is stored on your device until you clear app data or uninstall.
Firebase Authentication retains the account record until the user deletes their account. Cloud Firestore stores device records and license entitlements tied to the user ID until account deletion. Backup files are transferred directly to the destination device and are never stored on Neezy servers. The on-device database is deleted when the app is uninstalled.
Regulatory Compliance
Neezy Backup is designed with data minimization as a core principle. We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) and applicable data protection regulations. Since Neezy Backup operates as a local-first tool with minimal data collection, our compliance obligations are limited.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected in the app. Continued use of Neezy Backup after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
