Backup Basics

What does "Backup Now" do?

Neezy scans your Camera folder for photos and videos, then copies only the new or changed files to your USB drive. Files that were already backed up are automatically skipped, so you never get duplicates.

Why is "Backup Now" disabled?

All your photos are already backed up! There are no new files to copy. If you have taken new photos, tap the Scan button to check for them. Once new photos are found, the Backup Now button will be enabled again.

How does the app know which photos are new?

Neezy remembers which files it has already backed up. When you scan or back up, it compares what is on your device with what has already been copied. Only files that are new or changed since the last backup are marked as "pending."

What does the "Scan" button do?

The Scan button checks your Camera folder for new or changed photos and updates the pending count. It does not copy any files - it only counts what needs to be backed up. The app also automatically scans when you open it.

Can I back up videos too?

Yes. Neezy backs up both photos and videos from your Camera folder. Any image or video file (JPG, PNG, MP4, etc.) is included in the backup.

Can I cancel a backup while it is running?

Yes. Tap the cancel button during a backup. The app will stop after the current file finishes copying. All files that were already copied are safe on the USB drive. When you run the next backup, Neezy picks up where you left off and only copies the remaining files.

Can I use other apps while a backup is running?

Yes. You can switch to other apps while the backup runs. A notification shows the progress. Just keep the USB drive plugged in and avoid force-closing Neezy from the recent apps screen.

Does the app need internet to work?

No. Backups happen entirely offline. Your photos go directly from your device to the USB drive with no internet needed. The app only uses internet for Kavach purchase verification and anonymous crash reporting.

USB Drive

Why doesn't the app detect my USB drive?

The app detects USB drives automatically in real time. You should see a "USB connected" chip on the home screen as soon as you plug in. If it does not appear:

  • Make sure your USB drive is USB-C and plugged in firmly.
  • Your device must support USB OTG (most devices from 2020 onwards do).
  • Try unplugging and re-plugging the USB drive.
What happens if I unplug USB during backup?

Do not unplug your USB drive while a backup is running. Removing a USB drive mid-write can corrupt the file being copied or in rare cases damage the USB drive. If you need to stop a backup, cancel it inside the app first using the cancel button, then wait before unplugging. Files fully copied before the unplug are safe.

My USB drive is FAT32. Will large videos work?

FAT32 has a 4 GB file size limit. If any of your videos are larger than 4 GB, Neezy will skip them and warn you. To back up large videos, reformat your USB drive as exFAT (most new USB drives come formatted as exFAT already). Warning: formatting erases all data on the drive.

What happens if my USB drive runs out of space?

The app will stop and let you know how many files could not be copied. Files already copied are safe. Free up space on the USB drive or use a larger drive.

How much space do I need on my USB drive?

It depends on your photos and videos. As a rough guide:

  • 1,000 photos take about 3-5 GB.
  • 1,000 short videos take about 10-20 GB.
Can I view my backed-up photos on a computer?

Yes. Your backed-up files are regular photo and video files stored in a normal folder on the USB drive. Plug the USB drive into any computer (Windows, Mac, Linux) and browse the files directly. No special software is needed.

Photos and Files

I deleted a photo from my device. Is it still on USB?

Yes. Neezy only copies files - it never deletes anything from your USB drive. Your backed-up photos are safe even after you delete them from your device.

I accidentally deleted a photo from my USB drive. Will the app re-copy it?

If the photo is still on your device, yes - plug in your USB and tap Backup Now. If you deleted the photo from both your device and USB, the file is gone.

Why does the "files backed up" count not match the photos on my device?

The count shows how many files Neezy has ever successfully copied. This includes photos you may have deleted from your device after backing them up.

What do the backup status icons mean?
  • Green check - Completed successfully.
  • Orange warning - Completed with errors (tap "Retry Failed Files").
  • Red power icon - Interrupted unexpectedly.
  • Grey cancel - You manually cancelled.

Setup and Folders

What is a "backup pair"?

A backup pair connects a source folder (on your device) to a destination folder (on your USB drive).

  • Free tier: 3 backup pairs (Camera folder + 2 bonus trial pairs).
  • Kavach: Unlimited pairs from any folder.
Why can I only back up Camera on free tier?

The free tier backs up your Camera folder only. To back up other folders (Screenshots, WhatsApp images, Downloads), upgrade to Kavach.

How do I remove a backup pair?

Go to Settings, find the backup pair and tap the delete icon. This only removes the configuration - it does not delete any backed-up files from your USB drive.

Free Tier and Limits

What is the free tier limit?

Free tier includes:

  • 20 photos per day (first backup is unlimited to clear your backlog).
  • Camera folder only.
  • 3 backup pairs (Camera + 2 trial pairs).
  • Manual backup only.
Why did my backup stop at 20 photos?

You have reached the daily free tier limit. You can watch a short ad to unlock 20 more photos for the day, or upgrade to Kavach for unlimited.

What is the short video ad?

When you reach the free tier limit, the app offers a choice: watch a short video to back up more photos, or upgrade to Kavach. The video is optional - never forced.

I watched the ad but still cannot back up more.

The ad unlocks 20 additional photos for the rest of the day. If you need more, upgrade to Kavach for unlimited photos with no daily restrictions.

Kavach

What does Kavach unlock?
  • Unlimited photos per day.
  • All folders (Camera, Screenshots, WhatsApp, Downloads, any folder).
  • Unlimited backup pairs.
  • Auto-backup when USB is connected.
  • No ads.
How does auto-backup work?

With Kavach, the app automatically starts backing up when you plug in your USB drive. No need to open the app. Enable it in Settings > Auto-backup on USB connect.

How do I buy Kavach?

Tap "Upgrade to Kavach" in the app. The Google Play payment screen appears with all payment methods (UPI, debit/credit card, net banking, Google Play balance). Kavach is available as:

  • 3-month subscription - Rs.24.
  • Annual subscription - Rs.99/year.
  • Lifetime purchase - Rs.299 (one-time).
Can I use Kavach on multiple devices?

Kavach works on one device at a time. Your purchase is tied to your Google account. To switch devices, sign in on the new device with the same Google account.

Someone else wants to pay for my Kavach. Is that possible?

Yes. Google Play has a gift feature. When you see the upgrade screen, look for "Ask a family member to pay." They complete the payment on their device and Kavach activates on yours.

I bought Kavach but the app shows free tier limits.

Check your internet connection, close and reopen the app, and check account status in Settings. If the problem continues, email support@neezy.in. Your purchase is safe.

Privacy and Data

Does Neezy upload my photos to the internet?

No. Photos are copied directly from your device to your USB drive, completely offline. No photos are ever uploaded to any server.

What data does Neezy collect?
  • Anonymous usage analytics (which screens you visit, backup counts - no names or content).
  • Crash reports (technical only).
  • For Kavach users: Google email for purchase verification.

We never collect your photos, file names, contacts, messages, location or browsing history.

Why does the app ask for permission to access my photos?

Neezy needs to see your photos so it can find which ones to back up. The app cannot delete your photos or share them. If you denied permission, enable it in Settings > Apps > Neezy > Permissions.

Troubleshooting

The app crashes on launch.

Try these steps in order:

  1. Close and reopen the app.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Clear app cache: Settings > Apps > Neezy > Storage > Clear Cache.
  4. Reinstall the app. Your USB backups are safe.
Backup is very slow.

Speed depends on USB drive speed (USB 2.0 is slower than 3.0), number of files, and file sizes. Keep USB plugged in and avoid running heavy apps during backup.

My phone ran out of battery during backup. Did I lose anything?

No. Fully copied files are safe. The file being copied at the time may be incomplete, but Neezy will re-copy it on the next backup.

What happens if I reinstall the app?

Your USB backups are safe. After reinstalling, the app re-scans and detects files already on USB - no duplicates. Kavach users: sign in with the same Google account to restore your access.

Nothing is working. What should I do?

Reinstall the app (USB backups are safe). If the problem continues, email support@neezy.in with your device model, software version, and a screenshot.
