Backup Basics
Why is "Backup Now" disabled / greyed out?
All your photos are already backed up! There are no new files to copy. If you have taken new photos, tap the Scan button to check for them. Once new photos are found, the Backup Now button will be enabled again.
Can I cancel a backup while it's running?
Yes. Tap the Cancel button on the backup progress screen. The app will stop after the current file finishes copying. All files that were already copied are safe on the USB drive. When you run the next backup, Neezy picks up where you left off and only copies the remaining files.
Can I use other apps while a backup is running?
Yes. You can switch to other apps while the backup runs. A notification shows the overall progress. You can also return to Neezy to see detailed per-folder status on the backup progress screen. Just keep the USB drive plugged in and avoid force-closing Neezy from the recent apps screen.
Does the app need internet to work?
No. Backups happen entirely offline. Your photos go directly from your device to the USB drive with no internet needed. The app only uses internet for Kavach purchase verification and anonymous crash reporting.
USB Drive
Why doesn't the app detect my USB drive?
Check these things:
- Make sure your USB drive is USB-C and plugged in firmly.
- Your device must support USB OTG (most devices from 2020 onwards do).
- Try unplugging and re-plugging the USB drive.
- If your device shows a notification about the USB drive, the drive is working and the app should detect it.
What happens if I unplug USB during backup?
Do not unplug your USB drive while a backup is running. Removing a USB drive mid-write can corrupt the file being copied and in rare cases damage the entire drive.
If you need to stop, tap Cancel on the backup progress screen first, then wait for it to complete before unplugging.
If you did accidentally unplug: files that were fully copied are safe. The file being copied at the moment is likely corrupted. Neezy will detect and re-copy it next time.
My USB drive is FAT32. Will large videos work?
FAT32 has a 4 GB file size limit. If any of your videos are larger than 4 GB, Neezy will skip them and warn you. To back up large videos, reformat your USB drive as exFAT. Warning: formatting erases all data on the drive.
What happens if my USB drive runs out of space?
The app will stop and let you know how many files could not be copied. Files already copied are safe. Free up space on the USB drive or use a larger drive.
Photos and Files
I deleted a photo from my device. Is it still on USB?
Yes. Neezy only copies files - it never deletes anything from your USB drive. Your backed-up photos are safe on the USB even after you delete them from your device.
I accidentally deleted a photo from my USB drive. Will the app re-copy it?
If the photo is still on your device and you have not run a backup since deleting it from USB, Neezy may re-copy it on the next backup. However, if the app already recorded it as backed up, it will not detect the deletion. To force a re-copy, uninstall and reinstall the app (this clears the backup history), then run a backup. Neezy will scan the USB drive fresh and copy any missing files.
If you deleted the photo from both your device and USB, the file is gone.
Why does backup history show 0 files?
This usually means the backup was interrupted before any file finished copying. For example, the USB was unplugged, the app was closed or the device ran out of battery very early in the backup. Try running the backup again.
Setup and Folders
What is a "backup pair"?
A backup pair connects a source folder (on your device) to a destination folder (on your USB drive).
- Free tier: 3 backup pairs (Camera folder + 2 bonus trial pairs).
- Kavach: Unlimited pairs from any folder.
Why can't I select a different folder? It only backs up Camera.
The free tier backs up your Camera folder only. To back up other folders (Screenshots, WhatsApp images, Downloads, etc.), upgrade to Kavach.
Why can't I use the same folder in two backup pairs?
Each source folder can only be in one backup pair. If the same folder were backed up to two different USB folders, you would get duplicate files taking up extra space. To change where a folder is backed up, remove the existing pair first, then create a new one.
Free Tier and Limits
What is the free tier limit?
Free tier includes:
- 20 photos per day (first backup is unlimited to clear your backlog).
- Camera folder only.
- 3 backup pairs (Camera + 2 trial pairs, 20 sessions each).
- Manual backup only (must open app and tap Backup Now).
Why did my backup stop at 20 photos?
You have reached the free tier daily limit. You can:
- Watch a short ad to unlock 20 more photos for today.
- Upgrade to Kavach for unlimited photos.
I watched the ad but still can't back up more photos.
The ad unlocks 20 additional photos for the rest of the day. If you have used up the bonus and need to back up even more, upgrade to Kavach for unlimited photos with no daily restrictions.
Can I use more than one USB drive?
Yes, with Kavach. Each backup pair has its own destination folder. You can set up one pair pointing to USB Drive A and another to USB Drive B. The free tier allows 3 backup pairs (Camera + 2 trial pairs). To use unlimited pairs with multiple drives, upgrade to Kavach.
Kavach
How does auto-backup work?
With Kavach, the app can automatically start backing up when you plug in your USB drive. You do not need to open the app or tap anything.
How it works:
- You plug in your USB drive.
- The app detects it and automatically starts a backup using your configured backup pairs.
- You will see a progress notification while the backup runs.
To enable auto-backup: go to Settings and turn on Auto-backup on USB connect.
Can I use Kavach on multiple devices?
Kavach works on one device at a time. Your purchase is tied to your Google account. To switch devices, sign in on the new device with the same Google account.
Someone else wants to pay for my Kavach upgrade. Is that possible?
Yes. Google Play has a "gift" feature where someone else can pay for your in-app purchase. When you see the upgrade screen, look for the "Ask a family member to pay" option. This generates a payment link that you can share with the person who will pay. They complete the payment on their device and Kavach is activated on yours.
Why does the app ask me to sign in with Google?
Signing in with Google is required to use Kavach. It connects your purchase to your Google account so Kavach can be restored if you switch devices. Your Google account is used solely for this purpose. The app does not access your Google contacts, emails or any other personal data.
I bought Kavach but the app shows free tier limits.
Check your internet connection, close and reopen the app and check account status in Settings. If the problem continues, email support@neezy.in. Your purchase is safe.
I got a refund for Kavach. What happens?
If you request a refund through Google Play, Kavach features will be removed automatically. Your backed-up files on the USB drive are not affected - they stay on the USB regardless of your Kavach status.
Which Google account should I use for Kavach?
Sign in with the same Google account you use for Google Play purchases. Your Kavach license is tied to that account. If you sign in with a different account, the app will not find your license.
I bought Kavach but the app shows free tier. What happened?
This usually means you signed in with a different Google account than the one used for purchase. Go to Settings, sign out, then sign in with the Google account you used to buy Kavach.
Privacy and Data
What data does Neezy collect?
What we collect:
- Anonymous usage analytics (which screens you visit, backup counts - no names or content).
- Crash reports to fix bugs (no personal data).
- Kavach users only: Google email for purchase verification.
What we do NOT collect:
- Your photos, videos or file content.
- File names, folder names or file paths.
- Your contacts, messages, call logs or browsing history.
- Your location.
- Any data from other apps on your device.
Troubleshooting
The app crashes on launch.
Try these steps in order:
- Close and reopen the app.
- Restart your device.
- Clear app cache: Settings > Apps > Neezy > Storage > Clear Cache.
- Reinstall the app. Your USB backups are safe.
My phone ran out of battery during backup. Did I lose anything?
No. Files that were fully copied before the battery died are safe on the USB drive. The file that was being copied at that moment may be incomplete, but Neezy will detect it and re-copy it on the next backup. Just plug in your USB and tap Backup Now to continue.
What happens if I reinstall the app?
Your backed-up photos on the USB drive are completely safe. After reinstalling, the app re-scans your photos and automatically detects files already on the USB, so you will not get duplicates. Kavach users: sign in with the same Google account to restore Kavach.
Nothing is working. What should I do?
If you have tried the steps above and the problem persists:
- Uninstall and reinstall the app (your USB backups are safe).
- If the problem continues, email support@neezy.in.
Please include: your device model and software version, what happened and a screenshot if possible. We typically respond within 24-48 hours.
